Houzz Pro does a great job when it comes to homeowner facing communication, messaging, selections, approvals, and overall client visibility are strong.
From a GC perspective, where it could really improve is in supporting the full project team, not just the owner. On most of our projects, the architect and interior designer are active, ongoing collaborators—not peripheral participants.
It would be extremely valuable to have a more robust way to include architects and designers as part of the design team, with tools for:
RFIs
Submittals and approvals
Drawing revisions and clarifications
Centralized communication tied directly to the project record
Construction works best when everyone is operating in one system. Having the owner in one lane and the design team in another creates friction and duplicated effort. A shared workflow for the entire team would significantly improve coordination, accountability, and overall project outcomes.
We need to be able to add a PROJECT / DRAWING TITLE BLOCK to drawing templates automatically when creating a drawing in Houzz Pro. When we had the demo this was the “sample floor plan” we were shown. Come to find out, we can’t actually add a title block (shown on right side vertically). I’ve asked 2 help agents and both say no. The “annotation” tool seems to be the only work around, which makes it very time consuming to recreate every time.
Importing and Exporting 2D and/or 3D files would be very helpful. I like the 3D plans tool for visualization of rooms, but it can’t produce Architectural Construction Drawings. The ability to export the 3D plan to AutoCad (.dwg) as a 2D plan would be very useful for my work flow and encourage me to use the software more.
Thanks
I would like the ability to have global markup/margin I can add in settings that automatically add to line item costs in an estimate. As well as Global overhead costs doing the same.
Just a couple of things that I’ve wondered lately that could be added. . .
The QBO sync in quickbooks does not have the ability to pull the vendor over, and instead is putting the payee as the project itself and not a vendor.
disregard.
Within the budget, it’s not available to view or edit on iphone or ipad, even it’s a view would be helpful. For instance if I want to see how much a line item is budgeted, how much has been used so far, I have to be on the desktop version.
on the budget, in a line item is there the possibility to get a toggle on the actual vs. budget calculation. This would allow a more realistic up to date view of the budget vs. the overall.
I hope these ideas make sense, glad to explain if needed.
Would like the ability to send schedule change notifications to subcontractors via email or text when a date changes. To my knowledge, currently the sub is only notified when the task is created and to see schedule changes they have to check the schedule.
Feature Request: AI Estimate Creation from Video/Photos:
It would be extremely helpful if Houzz Pro had an AI feature that could generate a draft estimate from a video or photos taken during a project walkthrough.
For example, a contractor could record a video while walking through the space and verbally describe the work needed (e.g., “replace cabinets, install new countertops, remove this wall, replace flooring”).
The AI would transcribe the notes, recognize elements in the video/photos, and automatically create a draft estimate with suggested line items and categories.
This would significantly speed up the estimating process by turning a site walkthrough directly into a starting estimate that the contractor can review and edit.
We love the photo/video and AI abilities that Houzz already has but this would take it to the next level.
