Landscape architects + houzz

Sole practitioner here. Curious who else is out there finding success with houzz.

Hey, we have a construction and design business in Vail, CO. Switched to HOUZZ from Angis is 2023, and we have gotten two jobs from HOUZZ is all. Almost two years on. I just scheduled a meeting with our manager. Are you having success? Some of my design friends in bigger cities do. This is Casie, and I manage our account on here:)

As a landscape architect, I have found it to be the best and only conduit site that serves my marketing goals appropriately. Per my many interactions with users over the years, the majority of those that inquire understand the differences between design and construction. But I wish houzz was better. I have been with houzz for 12 years and the majority of the current features are irrelevant to me and my business as a sole practitioner designer. I stay with houzz because it is supportive of my overall marketing efforts, allows me to target geographically, and it fits well enough into my marketing budget.

Hey Casie!

I responded to the lead part of your question over here: Getting good leads on HOUZZ pro - so go check that out!

One thing that might be worth trying (if you haven’t already) is diving into more of the built-in business tools, on Houzz Pro especially AutoMate AI. It’s kind of like having a digital assistant baked into the platform. It can help with a bunch of everyday stuff, like drafting estimates, creating schedules, or even writing client emails.

Here are a few things I’ve seen pros get a lot of value from:

Estimates: AutoMate can generate ready-to-send docs with just a quick prompt (voice or text). Once your product catalog is set up, it pulls in everything: labor, materials, pricing etc.. so you’re not building estimates from scratch every time.

Project Schedules: You can even turn those Estimates into a full project Schedule in seconds. It maps out tasks and phases for you, and you can tweak it as needed. Big time-saver, especially when juggling multiple jobs.

Client Dashboard & Messaging: Everything from payments to convos stays organized in one place. It makes client communication easier to manage and helps avoid anything slipping through the cracks.

Hope this helps! Would love to hear what tools you’ve tried or have been using the most or what you’re hoping to get more out of!

Hi Monica!

Thanks for your patience! I’ve also been reaching out to a few solo pros to see if they can jump into this thread and share their own experiences. I also just want to say: Thank you for being a longtime Houzz Pro customer! We’re here to support you however we can.

In the meantime, here are a few tips that might be helpful:

:white_check_mark: Double-check your lead settings; Make sure your preferences are fully set, including:

  • The types of projects you want

  • Your service area

  • Your availability

You can give feedback on each lead you receive, which helps improve future matches over time.

As a solo practitioner, it’s especially important that the leads you pursue align with your business. If certain project types, budgets, or service areas aren’t converting well, don’t hesitate to adjust your filters. Many pros have found that making small tweaks, like narrowing their radius or prioritizing higher-budget projects, can lead to better-fit clients over time! You can also track lead quality, which give you visibility into how many leads are progressing to conversations, proposals, or jobs.

Some other ways Houzz Pro can help your business:

  • :high_voltage: Fast follow-up can make a big impact: We recently released some new tools that let you quickly generate an AutoMate (AI)-powered Estimate, and instantly build a project Schedule from that estimate. It’s a great way to show clients you’re organized, responsive, and ready to get to work.
  • :artist_palette: Mood Boards: If you haven’t tried them yet, Mood Boards can be a simple way to align on style with clients; Especially when landscaping preferences can vary significantly. Presenting a Mood Board, Estimate, and Schedule early in the process can build trust and give you an edge during the bid!

If I can help you with any Houzz Pro tools, just let me know! And if you try them out, I’d love to follow up and hear your feedback.

Warmly,

Elizabeth
