Time Tracking Issues

A few suggested improvements to time tracking.

  • Employees should not be inputting their rates. A super admin should be the only one doing that.
  • Employee Rates. In the employee profile- there should be 1. their hourly rate, 2. their employee burden rate, 3. Their billable rate. Currently- my bookeeper and myself have to go in and update every single time entry to the employee burden rate for budgeting. But on jobs that are T+M- we have to change the time entry to the ‘billable rate for billing. It’s very time consuming and not efficient. I end up budgeting in an excel spreadsheet because of this.
  • Employee should not be marking. if something is taxable or billable. That should not even show up.
  • We have cost codes to track expenses and time. Yet- when employees log their time- they are still asking for a ‘service’. I had an employee log time as babysitting. So now I have babysitting as a service in quickbooks.

Hi There! Thank you so much for the feedback. We highly value information like this from our Pros. I’m happy to say that we have a full revamp of our time entry system that is launching very soon. The team has put a lot of time & effort into this and I think the changes will fit into what you’re looking for. I will pass your feedback on to the product team though and let you know what they say.

Thank you!

Yes!! I have also put in tickets about this. I also don’t like that it does not show clock in and clock out times. If the employee made a mistake on clocking in or out, I want the ability to adjust the time of the clock in or out not the overall hours. I do still want it to show the total amount of time because that is useful, but I need an actual clock on there as well.

Thank you for your feedback! Just passed this over to my Product Manager. I can follow up here with more details soon. Thank you!

Have the new features already been released or are still in production?

Hi Alexandra,

We are currently beta testing actually! Can you please email me directly with your email address if you’d like to be added to the beta group? andie.nelson@houzz.com

YES! There are so many opportunities to improve the Time Clock.

  1. I want to see who is actively clocked in, and WHERE they clocked in. Did my field guy clock in at his house or the job-site?

  2. The Field Team should not be able to adjust time clocks period. That needs to be done by management.

  3. The Time Clock should be able to sync to QBO, we shouldn’t have to spend hours manually inputting the time and information. Nor should we have to pay for a second service to do so, that was the selling point HP gave us when onboarding.

I agree. I need to see what time my team member arrives, break and leave. She often forgets to clock in and out on top of it all. One day she left without clocking out - I had to call Support to clock. her out. I Should be able to do that with a time stamp that I did it so its logged and alerted by all parties.
